Your questions.. Answered!

Hey guys!

We posted up a status on our facebook page last Sunday asking you to come up with 20 questions for us to answer. We wanted to know what your burning questions were and here are the answers!

  1. What keeps you grounded?

Our friends, family and home lives. We’re still an unsigned band and recording, travelling, photos, video costs can mount up so we pretty much all work full time jobs to cover costs. It doesn’t matter how good a gig is, when you’re at work the following morning with people who couldn’t care less if you’re in a band its very grounding, And equally a welcome change.

  1. At Wolverhampton,I was honoured to witness you doing a group band thing before going on stage.(I’ve read about other bands doing this, but you were the 1st I’ve seen) What is it you say? (oh and don’t worry if you can’t say…Just please give us some idea?)

Kayley: The stage is our battle arena! We’re here to kick ass, so we give each other a ‘big up’ and a ‘good luck’ before hand. Along with a ‘lets rock the fuck outta this one argghhhhh’ battle cry

  1. What are your Favourite sweets / biscuits?

Kayley: Black Jacks / Haribo / Party rings… even though I prefer savourey

Tom: Tangfastics (‘nuff said) Refresher bars

Nick: Bourbons, minstrels, maltesers, haribo

Rich: Maryland cookies

Mikey: I’ve kinda gone off sweet recently, means I’m getting older, ha!

  1. Favourite film?

Kayley: Natural Born Killers

Tom: Into the Wild

Nick: The green mile

Rich: Snatch

Mikey: Walk the line

  1. What are your pet peeves when performing?

Kayley: Supports playing and then disappearing before your set. I think it’s disrespectful. I like to try and catch every band, even some of the band playing before us before I have to run off to warm up

Tom: Got to go with Kayley here. Generally bands not making an effort at all with the other bands socially either. Some people have one hell of an ego considering they’re playing small venues.

Nick: Breaking strings!

Rich: Getting way too hot and sweaty!

  1. What can people expect to see from the band this year?

Our faces! We want to gig more and meet more

  1. Where’d the band name come from?

Mikey: I was chatting to Nick via Facebook chat right at the beginning of the band, discussing band names. We’d already started to find a sound for the whole band so we decided we needed something a bit edgy. At the time during banging out names back and forth to each other I was listening to ‘Green Day - Viva La Gloria (little girl) and one of the lyrics were ‘The traces of flood always follow you home, like the mascara tears of your getaway’. I was instantly hit by them and typed ‘Follow you Home’ to Nick. His immediate response was ‘YES’

Kayley: I love that people say ‘that’s kinda stalkerish isnt it’ as I always just say ‘yeah!’ and laugh. Cue awkward moment

  1. Can you explain thedisowned?

We wanted to create a community of our fans where they could link up and talk to us directly. We called it the disowned because we believe no one person is owned by anyone or anything.

Stereotypes can disown us, conformist groups and social expectations can disown us, the past can disown us, the world should deny authority over us, because ultimately being disowned, means that we have full ownership of ourselves and our own lives.

  1. Nick, how does it feel to be a father?

Nick: Unimaginable levels of pride, in both my partner and my son. Simply put he is my world.

  1. If you had 15 mins in a room with 1 person, dead/alive, who would it be?

Tom: Rou Reynolds from enter Shikari, there’s a lot we could discuss.

Nick: Ooh that’s tough. Would have to go with Dave Grohl, mainly because he is a modern day genius, I’d go as far as to say this generations Paul McCartney.

Rich: Johnny Cash

Mikey: Either my girlfriend, Jesse Lacey or Billie Joe Armstrong.

  1. Is there an artist/member of a band you think is underrated?

Tom: I think Nate Mendal from Foo Fighters is a very underrated bass player, he’s super tight.

Nick: I don’t think Matt Bellamy from Muse gets enough credit as a guitar player. Creatively I think he has pushed the boundries of what being a guitarist in a rock band can do, he’s a big hero of mine.

Rich: Bayside - Massively underrated band!

  1. What is your advice to a new band, where to start, how’d you do it?

Buzz: Be patient. Practice a LOT.

Tom: Work hard because you love playing music, everything else follows from that.

Nick: Think very carefully about the reasons youa re doing it. For me being able to get on stage and make music with 4 of my best mates is the driving force behind it all for me. Be ambitious and know your instrument/songs inside out.

Rich: Don’t rush, take your time!

  1. Do you have arguments and how’d you resolve them?

We don’t tend to have arguments and usually if we do, they’re never face to face. It’s the usual case of misinterpreting text which is easly resolved

  1. Do you have London dates planned?

We are planning on spending quite a bit of time in London this year so there should be plenty of shows!

  1. Do you have a US tour planned in next few years?

Absolutely, sooner then you think!

  1. Do you have Mainland europe dates planned?

We are in Holland next week! But there will be more European shows from us for sure!

  1. What do you all do to keep busy on tour?

Kayley: Eat chicken. Surf facebook. Take the piss out of the lads

Tom: Enjoy meeting loads of new people. I talk way too much – I see it as a positive, others do not!

Nick: Eat KFC, one touch footy, generally have banter with the others.

Rich: Eat chicken, surf the net, play football manager.

  1. What are your album plans or how many songs are planned for release this year?

We are continually working towards new material. The aim is to release an album hopeful before the end of the year. 10-11 tracks

  1. What inspired you to start the band?

Tom: Being passionate about music. Smashing drums is also a very good therapy.

Nick: The need to play songs that I’ve created live in front of people. Finding 4 other like minded, talented people to do it with was a plus.

Rich: Me and Nick talked about forming a band for a while. Luckily through mutual friends we all ended up together and instantly clicked. We all share a common goal and that is to make music we love and travel!

  1. Can someone win your heart through a KFC?

YES!
